We do not live in a fucking democracy: https://www.leicester.news/bbc-edits-out-pride-pins-on-university-challenge-in-orwellian-move/

Do feel free to complain to the BBC about this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints
And maybe mention how many times Reform and far right folks are featured in their shit but apparently being Queer on the BBC isn't allowed...

@alexisbushnell are they going to filter out red poppy's too? Seems like double standards to me if they don't (said as a white poppy wearer)

Taken from the article, the BBC's response:

“In line with our editorial guidelines, we advise that no badges, flags, and emblems or symbols are worn or visible during filming..."

I believe the red poppy is an emblem, specifically memorialising those who have fought (most of whom without choice) and died so that the UK is free (to keep manufacturing more weapons to sell to more countries who promise not to use them for bad purposes).
Definitely less contraversial than celebrating peoples right to exist.

The Bigoted Broadcasting Corporation is of course living up to its name.

But will they edit out the logo of the RBL on Remembrance Day? Somehow I think not, even though it IS a registered trademark!

PS: And let us not forget that the RBL is a transphobic bunch of fucking TERFs who left me traumatised after doing a week long course with them, along with repeated misgendering! So, of COURSE Auntie will not censure them 🤬

@sarahdalgulls

A regular reminder that this shite is happening on the watch of a so-called 'Labour' government.

How is this any different to the days of Thatcher's Section 28?

@alexisbushnell This is yet another reminder (as if we needed one) to join the tens of thousands of citizens who are no longer paying the BBC Licence Fee. It's surely time to stop funding this anachronistic, right-leaning organisation.

@alexisbushnell This is incredibly disturbing but in a sense I find it even more troubling that they just don't stand for anything but do whatever is politically convenient at any one point.
The BBC was rather explicit in its support of LGBTQ+ people (if nowhere near enough but it certainly wasn't hidden) but so was the political climate. Us queer folk didn't change. So why did they (rhetorical)?

The same with many corporations and other public bodies. There are no values, it's only about doing the most opportunistic thing at any one time.
Much as I loathe those who oppose us, at least you know where they stand. It's more honest than whatever the BCC et al are doing.
